The Alliance of Plastics Processors (APP) is now accepting applications for the International Plastics Design Competition (IPDC), which will co-locate with NPE2009 on June 22-26 at Chicago's McCormick Place. The IPDC will be the first competition produced by the APP that is open to innovative products from any country in the world and for use in any end market.

SPI Releases Second Quarter Plastics Machinery Statistics

U.S. manufacturers and importers of primary plastics machinery and equipment shipped $195 million worth of primary machinery (excluding components and auxiliary equipment) in the second quarter of 2008, according to the latest equipment statistics released today by the Society of the Plastics Industry, Inc. (SPI) Committee on Equipment Statistics (CES).
The association is organized to meet the diverse needs of the plastics industry supply chain, including processors, machinery and equipment manufacturers, moldmakers, material suppliers and end-market manufacturers. SPI is comprised of three leadership councils (equipment, material suppliers and processors), industry groups and committees that focus on delivering services for specific member communities.

Leads the Society's federal, state, and international trade government affairs programs and provides overall issue response coordination of SPI resources. Advocates SPI at all levels of government; establishing SPI at the federal, state, trade and local levels as the organization for representing the plastics industry in the U.S. Serves as staff liaison to the SPI Public Policy Committee (PPC.)
