TECHNICAL SUBCOMMITTEE

Subcommittee Chairman: Rick Kornbau, Pactiv Corporation
Executive Director: Susan R. Howe

Background/Scope of Purpose:

The Food, Drug, and Cosmetic Packaging Materials Committee (FDCPMC) Technical Subcommittee's scope of purpose is:

  1. to collect, develop, and disseminate among members of the Society information relating to packaging for food, drugs and medical devices, and personal care products - including cosmetics, toys, health care products, etc. - and, to the extent relevant to Committee members, non-packaging components of the aforementioned products;

  2. to foster cooperative / collaborative relations with other trade associations who have similar interests, and with governmental agencies’ personnel whose responsibilities reside in these areas; and

  3. to advocate the Society's position on issues relating to these areas.

Task Groups are formed when members see a need for targeted action on issues of importance to specific segments of the food, drug, and cosmetics packaging industry, as well as to the broad range of the plastics industry.

We have conducted and managed research, compiled volumes of information and submitted dozens of reports to U.S. FDA supporting the use of plastics in food, drug, and cosmetics packaging applications.

Technical reports, produced semi-annually, describe current technical issues that are dealt with in establishing satisfactory regulatory positions for plastics food-contact materials. Copies of these reports may be found at the following links:
