Ackley was elected to a second one-year term as chairman of The Society of the Plastics Industry, Inc. (SPI) at SPI's annual business meeting held May 3 in Scottsdale, Ariz. Ackley is president, Davis-Standard Corporation, Pawcatuck, Conn. Other officers elected to one-year terms are Vice Chairman Paul Appelblom, president, Jatco, Inc., Union City, Calif.; Secretary R. Jay Finch, senior vice president, specialty plastics, Ferro Corporation, Cleveland; and Treasurer Frank Tortorici, global general manager, flouropolymers, Atofina Chemicals, Inc., Philadelphia. Harry B. Ussery, president, UTI Group, Greenville, S.C., is immediate past chairman. The officers will serve from June 1, 2001 through May 31, 2002. Ten new directors also join the SPI executive board effective June 1.
