SPI FILM AND BAG FEDERATION PRESENTS LIFETIME ACHEIVEMENT AWARD

WASHINGTON, DC (May 20, 2003) - The Film and Bag Federation (FBF), a business unit of The Society of the Plastics Industry, Inc. (SPI) presented a lifetime achievement award to Len Levy, for his nearly 50 years of service in the plastics industry. The award was presented during a ceremony at the FBF's recent Spring Conference, at the Don Cesar Resort & Spa in St. Petersburg, FL.

Mr. Levy, president and CEO of Poly-Pak Industries Inc., Melville, NY, broke into the plastics industry in the late 1950s as a distributor of plastic garment bags to New York City garment manufacturers. Several years later, Levy purchased an extrusion plant in the Bronx and began manufacturing garment bags and drawstring bags for retail use. Over the years, the company's production inventory grew to include products such as plastic envelopes, drop clothes and tarps for the do-it-yourself industry. Today, Poly-Pak Industries employs more than 400 people in two locations.

In addition to his work at Poly-Pak, Mr. Levy has been actively involved in industry organizations, including SPI, and was a founding member of the association's Film and Bag Federation. During his career, he also worked to educate teachers on the benefits of plastics and was a key player in reversing a ban on plastic bags in Suffolk County, NY.

The Film and Bag Federation, a business unit of The Society of the Plastics Industry, Inc. (SPI), works to further the development of the plastic film and bag industry by providing its members with the programs, services and forum necessary to address environmental, regulatory and other issues critical to the success of the industry. The U.S. film and sheet industries employ more than 84,000 workers. U.S. shipments in these sectors total nearly $23.6 billion. For more information, visit www.plasticbag.com.

Founded in 1937, The Society of the Plastics Industry, Inc., is the trade association representing one of the largest manufacturing industries in the United States. SPI's 1,300 members represent the entire plastics industry supply chain, including processors, machinery and equipment manufacturers and raw materials suppliers.
