SPI'S NORTHEAST REGION NAMES OFFICERS, DIRECTORS

WASHINGTON, DC (February 3, 2004) - The Northeast Region of The Society of the Plastics Industry, Inc. (SPI) announced this week that it has elected a new slate of officers as well as nine directors-at-large to steer the Region's activities and programs.

The new officers, who began serving two-year terms January 1, 2004, are: Chair John Szugda, Bermer Precision Products, Southbridge, MA, and Treasurer Linda Hill, Niagara Mohawk Power Corporation, Albany, NY.

The new directors are Kevin Barnes, Ashland Distribution Co., Westfield, MA; Dario Cavallero, Cavallero Plastics, Inc., Pittsfield, MA; Trent Romer, Clear View Bag Co., Inc., Albany, NY; James Ciolino, Windmoeller & Hoelscher Corporation, Lincoln, RI; Donald Gaynor, ATOFINA Chemicals, Inc., Amherst, NH; James Fitzpatrick, Nypro, Inc., Clinton, MA; Brent Vernon, Pennsylvania State System of Higher Education, Harrisburg, PA; Richard Flannagan, Stan-Cast, Inc., Leominster, MA; Milton Francis, Precise Technology, Inc., Holden, MA; Edwin Kintz, Kintz Plastics, Inc., Howes Cave, NY; Jim Moran, Engel Canada, Inc., York, PA; Steve Pierro, Sonoco Crellin, Chatham, NY; Samuel Shiffler, Sr., Mold Base Industries, Inc., Harrisburg, PA, and Isobel Wayrick, GR Technical Services, Mountainside, NJ.

Originally established as SPI's New England Office in 1944 to serve the plastics industry in Connecticut, Maine, Massachusetts, New Hampshire, Rhode Island and Vermont, the Region was expanded in 1995 to include New York, New Jersey and Pennsylvania. SPI's Northeast Regional Office responds to member needs on a localized basis, serves as an extension of the national organization and its infrastructure, and develops products, programs and services for plastics companies in the region. Its mission is to foster the continued health and economic vitality of the Northeast plastics industry through issues advocacy, outreach, education and civic responsibility.
