SPI WELCOMES NEW GOVERNMENT RELATIONS TEAM

WASHINGTON (April 18, 2006) – The Society of the Plastics Industry, Inc. (SPI) announced the addition of two veteran government relations professionals to its public affairs team. SPI is the major trade association of the plastics industry, representing some 1,100 companies in all areas of plastics manufacturing.

Chris Brown joins SPI as senior director of federal affairs, where he will guide the association’s congressional and White House advocacy programs. His specialty issue areas include tax and heath care reform, labor and construction. Most recently, Brown led government affairs for the Air Conditioning Contractors of America. Prior to his tenure at ACCA, Chris was the legislative representative for the Society of American Florists. Chris holds a Masters of Public Administration from George Washington University, and earned his Bachelor of Arts in History at the College of Wooster in Wooster, Ohio.

Jane Adams joins as director of state affairs to direct state government affairs initiatives. Before joining SPI, Adams spent 14 years at BASF Corporation, where she managed the company’s state and local government relations. Previously, Adams worked for the U.S. Department of Agriculture and on Capitol Hill for Senator Robert Kasten (R-WI). She holds a Masters of Science in Agricultural Industries and earned her Bachelors of Science from the University of Wisconsin.

“Brown and Adams will be strong advocates on behalf of our industry, to make sure the interests of our members are fully represented to policymakers at both the national and state level,” said SPI president Bill Carteaux.
