SPI POLICY STATEMENT ON ENERGY

SPI, which represents the third largest manufacturing industry in the nation, consisting of plastics materials suppliers, machinery and mold makers and product manufacturers nationwide, has a unique voice in the ongoing energy debate due to its reliance on energy for both its raw materials and the power to create its products. As a major contributor to the nation’s economy, the industry believes its voice must be heard.

In order to sustain and promote the health and global competitiveness of the U.S. plastics industry, The Society of the Plastics Industry, Inc. (SPI) supports energy measures and initiatives that provide reliable sources of power for its manufacturing and operations, stable supplies of energy for feedstocks, reasonable costs for both and responsible environmental stewardship.

Approved by the SPI Executive Board, March 28, 2008
