Position Statement on Rulemaking

The Society of the Plastics Industry, Inc. (SPI) supports the continued use of a rulemaking1 process that relies on substantial input from affected parties. SPI supports a rulemaking process that is based on sound science and reflects the results of both prudent risk assessment procedures and realistic cost-benefit analysis.

SPI supports legislation that results in reasonable, flexible, performance-based requirements that allows adequate time for agency actions.
